Fort Robinson State Park, Nebraska
This is my inaugural camping trip for the new camper and truck, testing all systems and scouting Ft Robinson State Park.
The State Park/ Campground has spacious campsites offering electric/full hookups, 2 museums and restored army post buildings, showers, a restaurant, horse facilities cabins for rent and more - only 4 hrs away from Ft Collins.
Historically interesting, soldiers at Fort Robinson was heavily involved in the late 19th century Indian Wars. It was the site where Crazy Horse was killed and the base of the "Buffalo Soldiers" 2 post-civil war Black cavalry units officered by one of the first black West Pointe graduates.
A longer trip in the area could include the Chadron Fur Trade Museum, Hudson-Meng Bison Kill Site, Wind Cave National Park, Custer State Park and the Black Hills.
