Driving Sally and Doris to the cabin. On the way we saw antelope, deer and a Golden Eagle.
Beautiful Colorado morning. Sunshine deep blue sky, slight breeze. Sally and Doris fish at the big pond, pretty, but no catching, yet.
The girls return for fried bacon, and Macadamia pancakes with fresh peach topping.
Next, I took Sally and Doris to fish at the Wapiti culverts. Sally go an 11" Brook Trout - largest we have ever seen from these ponds, and 2 more at the chicken coup. Doris caught a brookie at the culvert, and 1 more at the "coop".
Sal and Doris left me to go commiserate with Deb Mickelsen who broke her wrist falling off her horse (and also to apparently drink a substantial quantity of Deb's wine). I fire up the grill to cook Whole Foods XL healthy whole beef hot dogs (yum) with sauerkraut, mustard, Sri Racha, potato salad, and the usual condiments.
The girls work on their puzzle. I plan my motorcycle trip and go to bed.
4am, nature calls. Outside, the temp is in the 50's, shooting stars streak across the sky, and a family of coyotes howl just at the end of our driveway (50ft) - a half dozen little ones yip-yip-yipping and the older one in full howl, communicating with another pack to the north. Oooh, it's lovely being at the cabin. I try to use my iPhone to photograph the Milky Way, the Laramie lights or the coyotes, but am sorely disappointed. It seems some things must be experienced directly without electronic interventions. At 5:10 I guess it must e sleepy-time. My toesies are numb in the 54 degree night air....
